THE MOUNT DORANS
“…Around 1890, when Wylie C. Corley became the first pastor of Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church, he generously donated land to build its first edifice.
If Wylie Corley, in his office as church pastor, said last rites over deceased souls, it was Isaac Gilbert who dug their graves. Born in 1835, Isaac died in 1913 after a long career of grave-digging. His home was built was in downtown Mount Dora on the site which became the property between Lloyd Atkins Laundry and Rehbaum Hardware.”
